Teaser Tuesday #9

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

– Grab your current read.
– Randomly open a page.
– Share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
(Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
– Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

There’s an ache in the pit of my stomach that’s gnawing on my nerves. I want to hate him and judge him and scream forever but I’m failing because all I see is an 8-year-old boy who doesn’t remember that he used to be the kindest person I ever knew.

What are your Teaser Tuesdays? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll be sure to check them out 🙂

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Grey

“Your hair…” he said, and his voice trailed off, because even Paul possessed enough tact to know that calling a girl’s hair a “disaster zone” was probably unwise.

“Noah looks at me like maybe I’m off my meds. Which I am. But that is totally beside the point.” – All Fall Down by Ally Carter

I know that that’s more than two sentences but I couldn’t help myself…

Friday Finds #8

Friday Finds, a weekly bookish meme by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm, showcases the books you ‘found’ or added to your To Be Read list… Whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library -wherever! (They aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

This edition of Friday Finds will be a (short) list of books that I have acquired in both this week and the previous one.

image

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger.

Last week, my request one NetGallery was approved to view this book in exchange for a review. I have heard nothing but good things about this novel on BookTube, but none of my family or friends are at all interested in seeing the movie with me. I’m looking forward to reading it, but my expectations are not set too high.

Ancient Guardians: The Legacy of the Key by S. L. Morgan.

I have absolutely no idea what this book is about other than the genre is fantasy. Today, it was free on Amazon and iBooks – which I heard about on The Reader and the Chef – and decided why not?

That is all for this week’s Friday Finds. As I said, it was very short (not counting the three books that I bought for birthday presents).

Friday Finds #7

Friday Finds, a weekly book meme by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm, showcases the books you ‘found’ or added to your To Be Read list… Whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library -wherever! (They aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

This week I would like to give a HUGE shout out to everyone at NetGalley that have approved my requests to gain electronic copies of books in exchange for an honest review (plural). In this week alone, I have received approval for eighteen books. That’s right – eighteen! I just – WOW. I am so thankful!!

I have finally received my copy of The Winner’s Curse, which I ordered from The Book Depository. This is the first book in the Winner’s series by Marie Rutkoski and of which I actually received and ARC of the second book (released yesterday), but was unable to read it until The Winner’s Curse came through. Now I can finally marathon it! Whoo!

Now onto my NetGallery finds:

image

A Lonely Magic by Sarah Wynde

image

A Theory of Expanded Love by Caitlin Hicks. This is actually an ARC and is to be published on June 12th.

image

Beyond Reach (True Calling #2) by Sibhan Davis. This is also an ARC and is to be published on April 30th.

image

Bringing Narnia Home by Devin Brown. This too is an ARC, to be published on April 7th.

image

Distance by Andrea Heltsley.

image

Dreamwalker by Rhys Bowen and C.M. Broyles.

image

Escape in Time by Ronit Lowenstein-Malz.

image

Hidden Deep by Amy Patrick.

image

Ignite by Erica Crouch. The first two installments and the first novella are currently on NetGalley, though I only have the first book. I believe that the second installment, Incite, was published on February 17th.

image

Paranormal Keepers by Jen Naumann.

image

Perfect Timing by Robin Mellon. This is not an ARC, but it was only published on March 1st.

image

The Blackwell Family Secret: The Guardians of Sin by Jonathan L. Ferrara.

image

Another ARC, The Catalyst by Helena Coggan is to be released on April 14th.

image

The Jack of Souls by Stephen C. Merlino.

image

The Summer Solstice Enchanted by K. K. Allen.

image

Tied by Laney McMann.

image

True Calling by Siobhan Davis. This is also a recent release, having been published on 28th January this year.

You Are Mine by Janeal Falor.

That’s the end of this week’s Friday Finds! Please feel free to comment with your own Friday Finds – I would love to hear from you.

Friday Finds #6

Friday Finds, a weekly book meme by MzB of Should Be Reading (soon to be adailyrhythm), showcases the books you ‘found’ or added to your To Be Read list… Whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library -wherever! (They aren’t necessarily books you purchased).

So, I have decided to start up book memes again – Friday Finds, Teaser Tuesday and maybe WWW Wednesday – we’ll see how it goes. This came about I have joined NetGallery and have received four books for free in exchange for an honest review. Friday Finds will primarily be about books I have received and others that I have borrowed. If I included every new book on my To-Reads list, we’d be here all day and then some.

From NetGallery I have received:

image

Water So Deep by Nicole Giles, which I finished reading and reviewed yesterday.

image

Akarnae by Lynette Noni, which I was really looking forward to reading, but wasn’t aware of the archive date so when I went to download it from NetGallery today I couldn’t. Which is quite depressing.

image

City of Fae by Pippa DaCosta, which is the next book on my to-reads list and is actually an ARC, to be published in May.

image

Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutko, which is actually the second book in the Winner’s trilogy. I haven’t actually read Winner’s Curse as of yet, but I ordered it over Book Depository a few days ago and should come in a couple of weeks.

That’s all for this week’s Friday Finds, I hope you enjoyed it. I’d love to hear your Friday Finds so please leave a comment below.
